In the past there was considerable leniency in the matter of examinations: at times they were reduced to a mere formality, sometimes even dispensed with. The degree was awarded by the chancellor on the advice of the regent (those who taught) masters of the faculty as to the candidate's fitness. In the case of theology, which always ranked first in the various doctorates, there followed the pronouncement: "Incipiatis in nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti, Amen."
Credit will be given for certificates from a recognised college or university in any of the required subjects.
The Grading System used to providing a proper evaluation of the quality of work is an important part of the assessment process. As Degrees (Testamur) are awarded by mail on a continuing basis throughout the year, and students are located throughout the world, a single ceremony would not be practical. However, we encourage graduates to hold a private ceremony with friends and relatives. An appropriate gown may be purchased or rented locally for the occasion. The definitive colour is purple, with traditional red tassels for the doctorate. Degree Certificates do not state that these courses were taken electronically.
Collection: We will only collect basic information that is absolutely necessary to conduct business with you, unless you willingly provide additional information. Such basic information will be provided by you and is as follows: Full Name, mailing address, e-mail address, educational history. You may verify the details of the information we hold at any reasonable time. Use and Disclosure: We will not disclose information about you to anyone else Data Security: We will keep information about you secure. Registration: Once you enrol in the College you will be assigned a student registration number and password.
Some courses are provided with a Study Guide. These are compiled of true/false, multiple choice, fill in and matching questions; no additional essay or book report is required when the Study Guide is used. Write a two to five page essay or summary in your own words which correctly reflects the author's viewpoint. Your papers can be submitted via e-mail or by regular post. Do NOT copy the book (you will have a perfect paper - and a failing grade!).
Curriculum material has been very carefully examined for its relevance as well as Truth in understandable terms, and does not change from year to year. The selections represent writings not only from the world's greatest Masters, who have a knowledge beyond that of earthbound Man but also, and most importantly, extensive translations from the DEAD SEA SCROLLS. We may add to this list from time to time, but the stipulated material should never become out-of-date, therefore the purchase of the literature listed as textbooks should be considered as a wise investment. A student may purchase from us, or from elsewhere. Most however are FREE!!
From time to time special offers may be made available to students: these sales will be published on the Internet. Our text books, articles, and audio tapes are priced below the price you will find in Christian or other book stores. These items are not included in the tuition cost and are mailed/shipped to you at the advertised price, subject to availability. Books and study materials are subject to price change (and availability) without prior notice.
All the information you need to successfully complete your studies is provided via the Internet. No printed study materials are produced. Occasionally you may have to purchase additional books for the course, but these should be low-cost items as they are not recognised as educational textbooks per se and therefore do not carry the usual hefty price-tag! Complete and submit your assignments electronically.
We are accessible electronically 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Akkadian College of Divinity provides quality, flexible education, unrivalled elsewhere: wherever you have access to the Internet, you can download materials for study at leisure later. No campus visits are required and you graduate with the same degree as any on-campus student.
Admission to the College as a Doctoral Candidate does not guarantee that the College will grant a degree. Candidates who fail to complete or who submit an unacceptable Dissertation will not be granted a Doctorate, although a dissertation that is not initially acceptable may be re-worked and re-submitted.
If you have paid in full and withdraw from the program within 30 days of enrollment, 50% of the tuition fees will be refundable. No books are returnable and it is considered that you received all books and articles published on Internet websites as part of your tuition prior to termination.
